Guide

What salary or balance do you need for each card tier in Pakistan?

Pakistani credit cards are mostly gated by monthly salary, and the published floors in our data run from Rs 20,000 for some Gold and Platinum cards to Rs 1,000,000 for Askari's World card. Debit cards are gated by the linked account's balance: Classic cards ask for little or nothing, and premium debit cards ask for Rs 2,000,000 to Rs 5,000,000 or more.

Many banks publish neither figure. This guide shows the thresholds by tier and says where the data stops.

Fees verified against Jul to Dec 2026 schedules. Eligibility figures come from bank product pages and schedules. Updated 1 November 2026.

What banks publish and what they leave out

Of the 212 cards in our data, 69 have a salary figure published and 105 have a balance figure. Counting only values above zero, that is 44 cards with a salary threshold and 74 with a balance threshold. For 79 cards (37%) the bank publishes neither.

Twelve of the 21 banks list no salary threshold above zero on any card: Al Baraka, BankIslami, Easypaisa, HBL Islamic, Habib Metro, MCB, MCB Islamic, Meezan, Mobilink, NBP, Soneri and UBL. Three of those, BankIslami, Easypaisa and Soneri, publish no salary or balance threshold above zero on any card.

Credit cards are the exception. Of 48 credit cards, 36 list a monthly salary. Allied, MCB and UBL list none on any of their credit cards. Debit cards almost never list one: only 8 of 163 do. Most debit cards are linked to an account, so the card inherits the account's rules. That is why the debit card table below shows balances only.

A zero in our data means the bank says there is no minimum. A blank means the bank did not publish one. We never treat a blank as zero.

Credit cards: salary by tier

Classic53Rs 35,000Rs 50,000Rs 70,000
Gold129Rs 20,000Rs 50,000Rs 100,000
Platinum139Rs 20,000Rs 50,000Rs 400,000
World64Rs 20,000Rs 270,000Rs 1,000,000

The medians for Classic, Gold and Platinum are all Rs 50,000, so the tier tells you little about the salary you need. The bank matters more. Bank AL Habib lists Rs 20,000 for its Green, Gold and Platinum cards, and BOP lists Rs 20,000 for every credit card it offers, World included. HBL asks Rs 100,000 for Gold and Rs 400,000 for Platinum. Standard Chartered asks Rs 300,000 for Platinum and Rs 500,000 for World. Askari's World card lists Rs 1,000,000 a month, the highest in the data, while its Classic, Gold and Platinum cards list Rs 35,000.

At Rs 50,000 a month you meet the listed floor on 26 of the 36 credit cards that publish one, from Askari, Bank AL Habib, Bank Alfalah, BOP, Faysal, HBL (the Green cards) and Standard Chartered. The median published floor is Rs 45,000. Banks apply their own credit checks on top of the listed floor, and Askari's Rs 35,000 is its lowest salaried band.

Debit cards: balance by tier

World, Signature, Infinite2621Rs 250,000Rs 5,000,000Rs 150,000,000

Classic debit cards ask for very little. Allied lists Rs 1,000, Bank Alfalah and Askari list Rs 0, and the highest Classic figure is Meezan's Rs 200,000 monthly average on a Plus account, which waives the card fee. Gold figures run from Rs 40,000 (HBL) to Rs 200,000 (Meezan). From Platinum up, the figures jump to millions.

The balances are not measured the same way. Some are monthly averages, some quarterly, and some are relationship balances that add deposits, term certificates or investments across accounts. Compare cards within one bank first. Here are the premium debit thresholds that banks publish.

Meezan Platinum Mastercard debitRs 3,000,000 in checking (Rs 5,000,000 with term deposits)Quarterly average, Premium Banking

Premium debit cards that also list a salary

A few premium debit cards list a salary as well as a balance. Our records do not always say whether the two are alternatives or both required, so read the bank's own page before you apply.

Premium debit cardSalary listedBalance listed
Bank AL Habib Signature debitRs 750,000Rs 2,000,000
BOP KHAAS Platinum debitRs 500,000Rs 2,000,000 (relationship Rs 3,000,000)
Faysal Islami Priority Platinum debitRs 500,000Rs 3,000,000 (relationship Rs 10,000,000)
Faysal Islami Priority World debitRs 1,000,000Rs 5,000,000 (relationship Rs 10,000,000)

Meezan's Premium Banking also accepts a gross salary of Rs 750,000 or more credited through a Meezan Payroll Partner as a route in, according to its Jul to Dec 2026 schedule. Askari's Visa Signature debit lists a balance only.

When a figure is missing

When a card has no published salary or balance, KonsaCard fills the gap with the median of similar-tier cards and labels the result as an estimate, with the number of similar cards it used. Treat an estimate as a prompt to ask the bank.

Two things follow for you. First, if a bank is on the list of 12 above, the safest route is to look at the account product that the card is linked to, since that is where the threshold lives. Second, compare the fee as well as the threshold. A card with a low threshold and a Rs 20,000 fee may cost more than one with a higher threshold that waives its fee. The waiver guide lists those rules, and the tier guide covers what each tier adds to discounts.

In the tool, enter your monthly salary and account balance under eligibility and cards you probably do not qualify for drop out of the ranking. Open the tool to try it.

Frequently asked questions

What salary do I need for a Gold credit card in Pakistan?

Among the 9 Gold credit cards that publish a salary, the floor runs from Rs 20,000 (Bank AL Habib and BOP) to Rs 100,000 (HBL), with a median of Rs 50,000. Banks also run their own credit checks.

Do debit cards need a minimum salary?

Rarely. Only 8 of the 163 debit cards in our data list a salary above zero, and all are Gold tier or above, such as Bank AL Habib's Signature and BOP's KHAAS Platinum. The rest depend on the linked account's balance.

What does relationship balance mean?

It is the total you keep with a bank across accounts, and sometimes term deposits or investments. Meezan, for example, counts Rs 5,000,000 in checking or Rs 7,000,000 across checking and term deposits for its World card waiver.

Why does my bank show no requirement?

Usually because the bank did not publish one. For 79 of the 212 cards in our data, neither a salary nor a balance is published. The threshold often sits in the terms of the linked account, so ask the bank or read that account's Key Fact Statement.
